What’s On Your Bucket List?
What’s on your Bucket List? More importantly, what are you waiting for to start making the things on your list real?
If you’ve seen the movie with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, then you know what I mean by a Bucket List. a list of things that seem unattainable or as if you’d be over reaching to want to do or achieve, but in reality not impossible. In the movie, of course, the two characters have unlimited funds and limited time. In reality, most of us most likely have more time than funds.
How can someone like me, an always busy owner of a company and more, say they have time? Or someone who is a parent, or working two or more jobs – where do we find the time? The answer is to snatch it from the jaws of your day.
For me, I use a few ideas on balance to make sure I have time. Now, with the #beaquitter drive kicking in when I wake up tomorrow, I’ll have even more extra time. I just have to find a way to fit the pieces together to bring more of my Bucket List to reality.
You can achieve anything you set your mind to, even if you have to do it one item on the list at a time, five minutes at a time. You can realize your full potential. So what’s on my Bucket List? In no particular order:
- Be a better piano player
- Learn a second instrument
- Learn four languages well in addition to my native English (I’m on my way with Spanish, to be followed by French, German and one other I haven’t decided on yet)
- PhD in Psychology
- Become good at math
- Get a work of fiction published (I have poetry in anthologies, and short stories as well, which was on the old Bucket List – they are ever evolving as I cross things off – and now I’m shooting for a novel)
- Change someone’s circumstance exponentially for the better, anonymously
- Spend several months traveling and experiencing another culture to its fullest
What the heck does this have to do with social media, new media or the internet? You’d think this post would be more suited to my personal blog, and maybe it is, but I wanted to put it here. The internet gives us access to a million low cost ways to make our Bucket Lists happen, and to help make the Bucket Lists of others happen. With exponential connections to people, educational opportunities from home, and to the vast reserves of knowledge and more online, there is no reason for anyone who is connected to other people online to not achieve many of the things on their list.
Will you complete your Bucket List? Will you help someone complete theirs? There is no way to guarantee you’ll be able to do it all, but wouldn’t you rather look back on a life that you’d lived, rather than a life that you’d watched?
I’d love to know your Bucket Lists – won’t you share? You never know who may be reading and able to connect you to your first step toward your first thing.
